Carnival Breeze, Carnival Cruise Lines, Europe and the Caribbean
It's not just the luxury lines shipshaping their design. More affordable cruises have gotten on board as well. Take the Carnival Breeze, set to debut in June 2012. In place of the beige-a-palooza of old-school staterooms, some of the 1,845 cabins on the Breeze will have linens of crisp, fresh white and a nautical vibe, with subtle stripes and pops of royal blue. In others, such as the new spa staterooms, sand-colored rugs and turquoise accent pieces draw inspiration from the Caribbean waters through which the ship will sail. While the common areas still tend toward the garish (it wouldn't be a cruise without a glitzy casino, right?), the calming decor in the rooms offers a welcome respite.
