The fashion world may have its focus firmly on New York, London, Paris, and Milan at the moment, but there are other destinations where you can get your style fix. Ever since the House of Versace opened a gilded palazzo hotel on Australia's Gold Coast in 2000, other designer brands have followed suit, turning their creative talents to dressing spacious suites as well as size 0 frames. Perhaps it's about producing something that will be appreciated for more than a season, or just creating a fabulous place for the couture crowd to take a breather en route to the next big event. Either way, it's a development that continues apace, with the 2010 unveiling of Giorgio Armani's flashy hotel in Dubai. Not that bridging the fashion/travel gap is for everyone: Unfortunately, Marc Jacobs's funky hotel-style key chains don't seem to be an early announcement of his own hotelier plans (it seems he's happier diversifying into bookshops and cafés instead).
