Kenya Wildlife Safari

Parents' take: We're on our way to three of Kenya's most exciting game reserves (Nanyuki, Samburu, and Masai Mara), where the real wild things are. And if we have to sleep under canvas, at least on the Abercrombie & Kent Kenya Family Safari, the tent will have polished wooden floors, four-poster beds, and bathrooms that mean you don't have to mount an expedition out to the facilities in the middle of the night, when the carnivores are most actively feeding. And while the kiddies are learning how to track game in the Samburu National Reserve or throw a spear in the Masai Mara, we will be looking forward to a bush picnic toasted with wine chilled in a silver server.

Kids' take: Maybe the awesomeness of all these animals will mean we can finally get a pet.
