Cranky Parents' Guide to Family Vacations

by Bob Payne

Jamaica All-Inclusive

Parents' take: The hair-braiding is inevitable, but at least the family-oriented all-inclusive setting at Jamaica's Beaches Negril should mean the kids can splash all day at the water park and jump around part of the evening at the nightclub for teens and tweens without us having to worry about them trying to score some pot. And while the kids are showing off their mastery of the Xbox 360, we can have a candlelit dinner. For two. On the beach. Under the stars. But don't get any ideas, three kids are enough.

Kids' take: Just to make sure the grown-ups keep their distance in all public areas, we'll need to point out that a perfect place for them to chill is the swim-up bar, on their side of the pool.

All-inclusive stays at Beaches Negril for a family of four for seven days, from $3,990.
