The Belle Époque Café de Oriente is the perfect place to sample fancy canapés and a glass of wine while looking out onto the city’s most civilized square, the Plaza de Oriente. Situated on the east side of the Royal Palace, it was created by Napoleon’s brother Joseph and features statues of the country’s monarchs (547-1564; wine by the glass from $4).
