Finally, two very different places not to miss are Al Mounia, which serves couscous and tagines in a sumptuous traditional setting (Calle Recoletos 5; 435-0828; entrées from $27), and the Goya at the Ritz (pictured). Hit the latter only when the weather is fine enough to sit on the leafy terrace for excellent people watching, sangria, and club sandwiches (Plaza de la Lealtad 5; 701-6767; entrées from $58).
