Macaron Day is the culinary creation of Pierre Hermé, the confection king behind Pierre Hermé Paris, the boutique pâtisserie with nearly 30 locations in France, Japan, London, and Dubai. Hermé originated the day—known as Jour du Macaron in France—in 2005 as a way to raise money for charity. This year's event was March 20, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy macarons any other day.
