The Place: Aspen
The Crowd: Snow bunnies in Prada ski-wear. Wall Streeters trying to outdo one another. Europeans exploiting a strong euro. Moguls who wax poetic over, well, moguls.
Celebrate Christmas: Lulu Wilson opened early this year and is the current "In" spot. Housed in a mining cabin built in 1893 that was later home to a woman named—you got it—Lulu Wilson, the menu features dishes such as oysters in Champagne chili sauce, striped bass with parsnip-carrot compote, and beef short ribs.
Celebrate New Year's: ZZ Top is playing at Belly Up, which could suck or not, depending on your taste in aged rockers (and only $3,000 for a catered preshow dinner and really good seat!). And speaking of aged: Aspen Peak, the magazine that caters to the Rocky Mountain intelligentsia, will throw a ginormous bash in the grand ballroom of the St. Regis. Hosted by Denise Rich, Ivana Trump, and Niche Media CEO Jason Binn, it is, alas, invite only. But you're probably too young, anyway.
Stay in style: The 18-year-old Little Nell hotel, at the base of Aspen Mountain, has dual concierge teams—ski and hotel proper—so be assured that no boot will go unwarmed, no ski unwaxed, no reservation unchecked, and no special request denied. Heidi Klum and Seal welcomed 2007 here with a huge celebration.
