OMANI FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OIL
$25
One of the gifts of the magi to the infant Jesus, the best frankincense comes from the southwest coast of Oman where the resin is harvested from the Boswelia sacra tree. "Frankincense is good for centering, calming, and helping breathing and meditation. It's also great for skincare and skin problems like weeping sores, burns and rashes, and bites," says Enfleurage owner Trygve Harris. The scent is floral, piney with a hint of orange and brings back the memory of a trip to Oman, where frankincense is burned as incense in homes, shops, and public places. The oil can be dabbed as perfume or massaged into pulse points for relaxation and as a sleep aid. Mixed with a moisturizer or lotion (a few drops per tablespoon of carrier), frankincense also refreshes tired skin and relieves aching muscles. The scent of a few drops will linger on a piece of Kleenex making your purse smell nice, and since the effect is calming you can take a sniff anytime airport hassles raise your blood pressure. —Susan Hack
