ROCKEFELLER CENTER CHRISTMAS TREE
New York City
The first official Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony may have taken place in 1933, but it wasn't truly the first tree at the site. Two years earlier, construction workers erected and decorated a 20-foot balsam fir on Christmas Eve. This year's specimen is an 80-foot-tall Norway spruce from New Jersey.
