HELI-SKIING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
Skiing has always been a favorite of the white-collar crowd, but isn't it high time to do away with chairlifts, those quaint contraptions of the bourgeoisie? Thankfully the world's largest heli-skiing company, Canadian Mountain Holidays, offers a new, week-long trip without a lift line in sight. As the name would suggest, all the skiing takes place in Canada; specifically, Nomads Week spans five sites over two mountain ranges in British Columbia, from Monashee to Selkirk to Kootenay. But what the trip lacks in pronounceable names, it makes up for in price: $21,000 gets you a space along with seven other clients and three guides. A private helicopter drops you off in places no terrain vehicle can go, and picks you up when you say so. The first half of the week, you'll stay in one of the company's swanky lodges, and on day four, you'll move to Halcyon Hot Springs Village and Spa, where any remaining stress can be steamed and massaged away.
