The Standard, New York City
The Standard is infamous for exhibitionist guests getting busy at the full-length windows overlooking New York's High Line park. But we can't say we blame them. Anyone would be in the mood after ogling those Adrian Grenier look-alike doormen in Wayfarers and skinny ties and a front desk staff that appears to have just gotten off an Alexander Wang modeling gig. The hotel personnel—a rotating cast of musicians-between-tours and model-slash-DJ types—fit right in with the already-made-its (Madonna, anyone?) that crowd the hotel's hip club, better known as the Boom Boom Room than by its official name, Top of the Standard. So the guy who showed you to your room today could be the one you're drooling over next year in his HBO pilot.
Not just a pretty face: The downtown types that staff the Standard tend to be more plugged into the city's nightlife scene than most concierges, so they'll point you to that underground hip-hop show, the best warehouse parties, that just-opened sushi joint. Oh, and don't worry, their buddy is the doorman, so they'll tell him you're coming.
