Costa Plenti, Sydney, Australia
The name is tongue-in-cheek—owner Fay Cohen dreamt it up in Positano after one too many limoncellos—but the one-room Costa Plenti is serious about luxury. Located in Sydney's posh Double Bay neighborhood, it's a 1,100-square-foot, one-bedroom hideaway with a private courtyard entrance, Miele appliances in the full kitchen, and Bang & Olufsen gadgets in the living room. The contemporary furnishings and limed wood floors are enlivened by the occasional exotic objet, such as a set of antique Chinese drums used as side tables. But this is no mere rental apartment: Cohen's travel agency, Travel Phase, is located right downstairs and serves as a concierge service, organizing a Sydney Harbour cruise or a last-minute table at Tetsuya's. Room service comes courtesy of Bar Indigo, Double Bay's best café, and a daily housekeeper keeps the flowers fresh and the Champagne chilled. The ferry to Circular Quay and central Sydney is a five-minute walk away, but the surrounding boutiques and cafés of Transvaal Avenue will keep you—and your wallet—occupied, too (there's a reason the neighborhood is nicknamed "Double Pay").
