Private social club and budget aren't words that usually play nice. But at the Soho House Group's latest property, carved out of a former biscuit factory and adjoining pub in boho East London, ye of the hoi polloi can be up to scratch—for a night or two, at least. Much as its sister property, Dean Street Townhouse, plays a democratic foil to Soho House's eponymous central London outpost, Shoreditch House offers a run of the clubhouse—manic rooftop pool and all—when you book one of its 26 comfortable rooms. Prices range from £85 for an aptly named Tiny to £125 for a Small+, which includes a touch more wiggle room, furnished outdoor space, and views of the Gherkin. Fresh and bright, the combination of muted grays and pastels, oversize dressers, vintage phones, and beachy flourishes like sea grass flooring and wooden shutters read Montauk posh, unfussy, and even slightly retro. En-suite bathrooms boast a powerful rain shower and enough Cowshed bath gels and lotions to sate the most determined product fetishists. And while the bed may be dreamy, forget sleeping: There's a bevy of pretty young things and tattooed media types just waiting to get to know you in the club.
