Hotel Principe di Savoia, Milan
Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards Overall Score: 87.6
No. of Units: 404
Price: $$$$
A 1927 neoclassical landmark near La Scala, this "sophisticated and beautiful" hotel has an Italian garden out front. The ground floor exterior uses wrought iron and glass, extended in verandas along the facade, while interiors blend turn-of-the-nineteenth-century Milan with contemporary furnishings. Rooms are done in Venetian, Florentine, or neoclassical style and evidence plenty of marble, gold, and damask. Principe Suites have hand-painted frescoes and deep purple armchairs. "Beyond blissful" Milanese food is served at Acanto Restaurant. "Every request was immediately fulfilled."
