TEXTURE OF LIFE IN VALENCIA
Submitted by Devora Rogers, Los Angeles, California
Great Travel Moment:
I used to live in a small town outside of Madrid called Cuenca; when I brought my husband to visit last year, we took a side trip to Valencia. I love the light in this photo, the texture of the buildings, and the wrought-iron balconies. I love that people are walking in the streets, because I have always felt that Europeans walk their cities in ways Americans do not. Most of all, I love who we are when we are in Spain. We stay up late, we eat and drink what we want to, we dance on rooftops. We return home each time and say, how can we do it at home? We vow each time to make tortilla española more often and practice eating dinner after midnight; but the light and the streets of Los Angeles never look like this.
