Aman-i-Khas, Rajasthan, India
Chances are the last photo you saw of a tiger in the wild was taken at India's Ranthambhore National Park, where the big cats stalk gazelles and antelopes in the tall grasses. Sighting a wild tiger here is almost a guarantee. Your comfort in the hills of Rajasthan, however, isn't—unless you've booked one of the ten air-conditioned tents at Aman-i-Khas, one of the crazily luxurious Amanresorts. Cotton drapery cascades from the ceiling of each tent, a fan spins above a daybed. There's also a king-size bed, twin writing desks and vanities, and a bathing area. After a dip in the Bawadi pool, which has cooler waters the deeper you go, it's time for supper, provided in part by the organic vegetable garden on property. If only the tigers had it so good. Open from October through April, the best months for viewing wildlife.
Doubles from $750, plus $75 per day for food and drinks
