Paris, uncompromisingly
Le Meurice's privileged perch on the edge of the Tuileries is not only good for bucolic, iconic views. Come July—to the hotel's slight chagrin—a summertime fair moves in directly opposite. For tots, the classic carousel and adult-pleasing, highly scenic Ferris wheel hit the spot, while teens scream for the utterly terrifying Ejector Seat (exactly as it sounds). Meanwhile, indoors, kind hotel staff are corralled into service, conducting kids on a treasure hunt all over the palatial premises. Starting from the lobby and Jardin d'Hiver restaurant—with their new, controversial Philippe Starck makeover—the offspring get to see behind the scenes, meeting managers, collecting chocolates and keys, and generally running around where normally they shouldn't. Parents can make use of the hour at the Caudalie Spa. In-room extras include puzzles, toy boats, kid menus, and robes, plus the ace British TV channel for toddlers, CBeebies (rare in Paris). Finally, book a babysitter for a grand dinner at the restaurant, domain of chef Yannick Alléno, freshly decorated with his third Michelin star.
