Best Fashion Week Hotels

Egerton House Hotel, London

Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards Overall Score: 89.8

No. of Units: 28

Best Room: The few Superior Rooms on the higher floors with views of Hyde Park are the best value; avoid the alternative "city view" rooms—a euphemism for rooftops.

Price: $$$

This "classy little jewel box of a hotel," close to Harrods and the Natural History Museum, was built on a street once occupied by British aristocracy. Inside the "perfectly located" Georgian town house are individually designed "very cozy" traditional English rooms decorated with artwork by Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Matisse. "The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating." There is no restaurant at the property—"there are great places to eat nearby"—but the hotel kitchen can whip up comfort food like chicken noodle soup or more solid plates like Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak. Afternoon tea at the Drawing Room, served from noon to six, presents fresh scones with Devonshire clotted cream, berry tarts, cappuccino cheesecake, and macaroons; sip martinis here in the evening.
