LAS VEGAS: Tryst
A provocative name, and a setting that delivers. Where else on the Strip can you encounter half-naked girls lounging by a man-made waterfall and lagoon? (Wait, don't answer that.) A 4,000-square-foot outdoor area gives dancers a chance to come up for air (and actually talk to new friends), while the sunken dance floor is usually a sexy, writhing pit.
Velvet Rope Factor: It's Vegas, baby! Everyone is welcome. Even those who reserve tables may have to wait on line, though. Cover is $30.
In Good Company: Less crowded than E!'s favorite club, Pure, Tryst draws enough people to make it interesting but not overwhelming. Boldfaced attendees range from the sexy (Jenna Jameson, Usher, and, pictured, Christina Aguilera) to the crunky (Lil' Jon, Paris Hilton, Ludacris). Otherwise, it's young and barely dressed tourists looking to let loose.
Hey, Mr. DJ: The in-house DJs spin mostly a mélange of pop, hip-hop, Top 40, and dance music. Sunday nights are deemed "retro," which here means the early '80s and '90s. "Thriller," anyone?
Sip on This: The Love Triangle (what else would you expect from a bar called Tryst?): Two parts Johnny Love vodka (flavored with pineapple and tangerine) and Cointreau topped with a splash of pineapple juice.
When to Go: If you don't want to just meet other tourists, know that locals get in free on Thursdays and Sundays. (It's closed Monday through Wednesday.) Otherwise expect megacrowds, except in late summer.
