ST. TROPEZ: La Voile Rouge
St. Tropez is where the French say ta-ta to their normally buttoned-up social mores, and La Voile Rouge—the Riviera's most notorious beach club—is designed for excess. Dancing on tables, fashions shows in which the crowd buys the clothing off the models, and prominent Champagne wars—all take place right on the sand. Day or night, the party doesn't stop.
Velvet Rope Factor: None, but partying in St. Tropez is not for the thrifty (think $30 for a beer). Playboys pay and their ladies lounge—or dance bare-chested.
In Good Company: If you're French you'll recognize the famous business types and their too-thin mistresses. Otherwise, try to pick out faces such as Naomi Campbell, Ivana Trump, and Cindy Crawford and hubby Rande Gerber (pictured—and who look like they're getting into the spirit).
Hey, Mr. DJ: The volume rises as the sun goes down: Soul and ambient house by day, electronica-infused dance tracks at night. Many of the mixes are obscure but hypnotic.
Sip on This: Douse thy neighbor in Dom Perignon. St. Tropez's favorite spray gun will only set you back some $1,350 per bottle.
When to Go: The fest starts midday, quiets down around dinner, and amps up again into the early hours. Closed October through April.
