One Flew South at ATL, Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson is the country's busiest airport, so chances are you'll be killing time here at some point. Luckily, you can do it at One Flew South, in Terminal E. Nothing about this upscale spot says "airport." Not the pink Cherokee marble bar, not the woodland mural behind it nor the silver orbs glowing above it, and certainly not the Wine Spectator award–winning list of vintages. The bartenders here know their way around an Old Fashioned and have mixed up a list of creative takes on cocktails (such as Bellinis made with ginger syrup and Georgia peach purée). If your layover coincides with dinner hour, the kitchen can set you up with locally inspired fare with an Asian twist. The hoisin pulled-duck BBQ sandwich with fig and peanut relish holds up particularly well to generous pours of Old Forester bourbon.
