The World's Most Leisurely Vacations

Country Walkers' Galápagos Land-Based Tour

The pace: Make like a tortoise and mosey three to five miles per day around the Galápagos Islands.

The place: Most visitors to the Galápagos spend all their time viewing the island's abundant wildlife from a cruise ship. Not so with Country Walkers' land-based trip (new in 2011): You'll get up close and personal with the blue-footed boobies, sea lions, and iguanas that call the islands home. Local, expert guides point out Darwin's finches and lava lizards as a group of no more than 18 walkers moseys along beaches, through marshlands, and around volcanoes. You'll sleep well in luxury tents or small hotels on the islands of Santa Cruz, Isabela, and San Cristóbal. And it's not all about terra firma. You'll also snorkel among Pacific green sea turtles, angelfish, and damselfish, via small boats that transport you to places those cruise ships just can't reach. Now that's what we call evolution.
