The World's Most Leisurely Vacations

SeaTrek Bali

The pace: Life's a breeze when you sail through paradise at ten nautical miles per day.

The place: If there's anything more ethereal than being on Bali, it's floating on the teal-blue waters that surround the Island of the Gods. Instead of navigating traffic and tourists, guests on the schooner Katharina get to see Bali's temples, beaches, and an explosion of color and music in the most leisurely way. Winds are light here, just enough to puff you along to a new bamboo forest or savanna of galloping horses when you've had your fill of observing Komodo dragons. While the crew swabs the deck and prepares the meals, you get to lie back and relax between rounds of beachcombing and snorkeling on the ten-day trip. The 112-foot vessel, which holds six cabins and a family suite, is nimble enough to navigate the smaller ports of call as it slips along the shores of Bali and the Lesser Sunda Islands. Among the hidden treasures here are crater lakes that change color from aqua to white, black, and red. You may need to hang around to see the fantastical sight, but you'll feel like you have all the time in the world.
