Chobe Game Lodge
Where: Chobe Game Reserve, Botswana
The star-crossed lovers: Chobe is loaded with elephants, but the fact that they are a symbol of wisdom didn't seem to rub off on Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who remarried here—despite having divorced only 16 months earlier. (The second go-around lasted less than a year.) Even less wise was Liz's choice of a green wedding getup trimmed in lace and guinea fowl feathers.
Lovers' nest: The 46-room Moorish-style lodge, the only property inside the famous game reserve, features "love canopies" of hand-painted fabric above the beds. Couples can get wet and wild in one of the four suites with individual private swimming pools.
The dirt: Richard first took up with his dark-haired temptress on the set of Cleopatra, which prompted him to leave his American sweetheart wife, Debbie Reynolds. He and Liz then adopted a child together and spent time vacationing in and doing charity work in Africa. Does anyone find this eerily familiar (cough, cough, Brangelina, cough)?
