World's Top Spots to Sweat

Ancestral Sauna, Posada de Mike Rapu, Easter Island

The ancestral sauna at Posada de Mike Rapu on Easter Island follows the rituals of the indigenous Rapa Nui people. Crafted by local artisans from soft eucalyptus tree trunks, the circular structure covered with dry grass has a special insulated room called Hare Mahana Ora, which means "live and warm home" in the local language. After working up a sweat among hot lava stones for 20 minutes, rinse in an outdoor pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and then repeat. Once you emerge from your second sweat and soak, your stresses will surely feel as remote as your location.

Hare Mahana Ora at Posada de Mike Rapu, $45 per couple for 45 minutes.
