Atlanta Shopping

Fashion
Atlanta , Georgia

For the best selection of labels under one roof, head to Phipps Plaza, an upscale mall in Buckhead with three shops of particular interest (Phipps Plaza; 3500 Peachtree Rd. N.E.; 404-262-0992). Jeffrey carries the same fashion-forward merchandise (from the likes of Prada and Balenciaga) as its younger sister in New York, making it a mecca for women living south of the Mason-Dixon line. Through a 2006 expansion, Jeffrey absorbed a neighboring Bob Ellis boutique and its impressive selection of high-end designer footwear—shoes from Christian Louboutin, Dries Van Noten, Prada, et al. (404-237-9000; www.jeffreynewyork.com). Also of note in Phipps Plaza are Tory Burch's retro-mod tunics and dickeys (866-480-8679; www.toryburch.com) and Jimmy Choo's vertiginous shoes (800-506-9991; www.jimmychoo.com). One of Atlanta's great stand-alone stores, Peoples proves that there's more to Southern style than big hair and white shoes. The tiny boutique in Buckhead carries a well-edited mix of Chloé, Peter Som, and Stella McCartney, as well as an impressive selection of designer handbags, shoes, and accessories (3236 Roswell Rd.; 404-816-7292; closed Sun and Mon).

Furniture/Furnishings

For high-quality contemporary design, head first to Space, a frosty white street-level showroom where Bertoia chairs, Minotti cocktail tables, and Louis Poulsen chandeliers fly off the shelves the second they hit the store. There's usually a DJ spinning on weekends, and the adjoining space is a popular venue for after-hours parties and events. RetroModern, just across the street, stocks midcentury classics from Eames and Noguchi and contemporary staples like Starck Flos lamps and Iitala housewares. It also houses the Alessi U.S. flagship and a Kartell store.
