Set on Friendship Bay, this cluster of four villas on a one-mile stretch of beach has dwellings that range in size from one to four bedrooms, housing up to 16 guests total. Each unit has airy wood-beamed porches, a full modern kitchen, a dining area large enough to seat a big dinner party, bedrooms with elegant French doors, and a living room with delicious Caribbean views. All of them have comfortable high-end furnishings, though they're not as ultra-luxurious as similarly styled properties on nearby Mustique.

This century-old former captain's home has been transformed into a 15-room, shingled hotel with classic Caribbean detailing and charm. There are three distinct levels of accommodation: The exceptionally well-priced original rooms in the main house are modest, with shared bathrooms at the end of a corridor; newer garden units, set amid tropical foliage, are spacious, with stone walls, towering ceilings, louvered doors, and private bathrooms; and the deluxe rooms, two of which are air-conditioned, have the added benefit of spacious verandas and prime sea views. The Frangipani Restaurant serves excellent West Indian food. The hotel's private 44-foot yacht, the Pelangi, also takes guests on cruises through the Grenadines.

Closed early September through mid-October.

This 28-room hotel is equal parts hideaway and art gallery. Owner Margit Abrahamsson is a Swedish expat who has turned her hotel into her own canvas. She has covered each of its main spaces in color, such as orange or aqua, and created a fish-shaped stained-glass window in the Moskito Bar. Further aesthetic flourishes include a honeymoon suite hewn from bamboo, stained wicker chairs, and traditional Carib-Indian paintings everywhere. The many guests who feel duly inspired to bring their own easels and painting supplies fit right in. The hotel takes its name from its prime location on Friendship Bay, home to one of the most scenic beaches on the island.

Closed late July to early September.

Gingerbread is a ten-room B&B set on the beach, three minutes outside Port Elizabeth on Admiralty Bay harbor. It benefits from being moments away from both the sea and the island's main drag. The building's whimsical design—gables capped with roses, latticework balconies, and eclectically painted details—gives the place a storybook quality. Inside, rooms have Italian tiles, Brazilian hardwoods, and four-poster king-size beds, as well as little porches and fully equipped kitchens. Still, rather than cook, you'll want to eat at the hotel's Gingerbread Restaurant. It's one of the island's most popular spots.
