Concierge.com's insider take:

Bourgeois and bohemian, rebel and conservative.…The various slogans of this chic little oasis are improbably taken from a book by the American political pundit David Brooks (Bobos in Paradise, about the emerging class of "bourgeois bohemians"). Even more improbably, the slogans almost make sense in context. Situated on a dappled tree-lined block in Palermo Viejo, the Bo Bo is both a hipster hangout and an urbane boutique hotel, as evidenced by the inviting lobby café restaurant (featuring an inspired Argentine-Mediterranean-Asian menu), with its sleek furnishings, grenadine-hued velvet curtains, pulsing electronica soundtrack, and black-uniformed staff. Housed in a 1920s mansion, the hotel's seven airy rooms range in style from minimalist to Art Deco to "Argentinean" (a top-floor suite with a skylighted Jacuzzi), and many come equipped with their own private balconies.

From the readers of Condé Nast Traveler:
Overall Score: 89.7
  • Rooms: 91.7
  • Service: 80.8
  • Food: 84.0
  • Location: 100.0
  • Design: 92.0
The perfect-scoring location on a tree-lined street in the Palermo district is "very convenient to wonderful restaurants." All rooms are individually decorated. "The awesome Argentina room" has lots of natural light. At the restaurant, which melds Mediterranean, Argentine, and Asian cuisines, order the corn-and-goat cheese crème brûlée. "If you like a little gem in a neighborhood without grand hotels, this is perfect."

—2009 Gold List
From the editors of Condé Nast Traveler:
Behind a dust cloud of renovation that is quickly turning Palermo Soho into the city's coolest quarter, one 1920s European-style mansion has been reborn as the Bobo Hotel. Six of its seven seriously affordable rooms were inspired by twentieth-century movements (Art Deco, minimalism, pop, etc.)—some more successfully than others—but it's the seventh that's the real keeper. Done in the natural hues of the pampas, the top-floor Argentina is the sole suite, with a skylighted whirlpool tub and an enchanting balcony that evokes Left Bank luxury. Wireless Internet access is hotelwide; absent is a business center, although the young staff will gladly offer reception's setup should the need arise.—2005 Hot List
