Opened in 2004 on the site of a venerable motor lodge at the base of Mount Norquay, half a mile outside of town, the Juniper aims for a contemporary boutique feel. It largely succeeds, nicely mixing reclaimed wood, slate tile, and nature photos in its public spaces. The 52 rooms come with sleek duvets, balconies, and CD players. This is a good choice if you're looking for a place with energy rather than solitude. After all, it's a tad close to the highway and also attracts a youngish crowd who like to whoop it up in the outdoor hot tub, which has commanding views of Mount Rundle.
