This 150-year-old shop was first opened by a Milanese milliner and is now the domain of Croatian designer Marina Grabovac. Her beach hats, cloches, and berets are crafted by hand from straw and cotton right in the shop; their clean, elegant lines are a clear nod to the shop's Italian past. Ronchi's prices range from $30 to $189, but the extra shade is priceless when the sun heats up Banje Beach.

The Dubrovnik area's many high-quality vineyards have led to its reputation as the Adriatic equivalent of the Golden State. Vina Milicic, just off Stradun, has an encyclopedic array of the region's best vintages, including the 2000 Milicic Dingac Barrique, a spicy, stocky red that echoes the very best California zinfandels. The shop also sells delicacies like truffle paste, extra-virgin olive oil, and local honey.
