Concierge.com's insider take:
Call it a carnival, call it kitscheven call it overrated. But there's no denying that this Nairobi circus is Kenya's best-known restaurant. Carnivore takes the national obsession with nyama choma (roasted meat) and elevates it to high art. Waiters circle the floor with an endless supply of grilled meat skewered on the points of Masai swords; keep your eye out for the occasional ostrich or crocodile dish passing by, or stick to more familiar chicken, pork, beef, and lamb cuts. Purists might gripe that the standards have slid since "exotic" game meat was officially outlawed, but most people are too busy stuffing their faces to complain. Even if those animal-print uniforms and zebra-stripe chairs go a bit overboard, the boisterous air reminds you that it's all in good fun. The neighboring Simba Saloon offers a reliably busy dance floorperfect for that post-carnage workout.
Open daily noon to 3 pm and 6:30 to 10:30 pm.
