Martin Miller's house is crammed with extraordinary pieces—Chippendale, early Georgian, Italian Gothic, English Victorian—as you'd hope from a place whose owner used to publish one of the premier antiques guides—and who incidentally now makes Miller's Gin. Not really a hotel at all, it's the kind of place where Notting Hill bohos between homes—or marriages—move in for a month or more. When not ensconced in one of the eight rooms named after Romantic poets, they can usually be found in front of the roaring log fire in the candlelit drawing room enjoying complimentary evening cocktails. For a non-hotel, it's got plenty of services—laundry, breakfast, theater-booking, and free WiFi—although only basic TV stations and no restaurant. But this is one of the most happening neighborhoods, and who needs TV when they're living in a mini stately home?
