Circuses, Moscow

Moscow
Russia
Concierge.com's insider take:

Stemming in part from the Russian tradition of balagan or clowning and tomfoolery, the circus is one of Russia's national art forms. Moscow has two circuses. The New Moscow State Circus presents a Vegas-style show (7-495-930-2815; 7 Prospekt Vernadskogo; www.bolshoicircus.ru/index_en.html). Better is Nikulin's Circus ("the Old Circus"), named after Russia's most famous clown. It includes slapstick and acrobatics, as well as performances by bears, horses, monkeys, and dogs (13 Tsvetnoy Blvd.; 7-495-625-8970; www.circusnikulin.ru/_en). Circus in Russia is an all-seated event, so buy your tickets in advance.
