This private museum houses one of the best collections of Native American art in the country. Founded by Dwight and Maie Heard, who moved to Phoenix from Chicago in 1895, the museum opened in 1929 to exhibit the couple's unparalleled collection of more than 38,000 ethnographic objects and contemporary works of art.
