St. Barths Shopping

Absolutely Wine
Grand Fond
St. Barths
Tel: 590 590 52 20 96

A lone outpost in the wilds of Grand Fond, this little wine shop, co-run by Ruinart Prize–winning sommelier Jean-Baptiste Barre, is worth a visit for its wide selection of uncommon wines, as well as for its daily "wine school" tasting at 11 am.

Calypso St. Barths
Route de Saline
Saint Jean , St. Barths
Tel: 590 590 27 78 39

This little boutique in St. Jean opened in 1995 and has since grown into a $60-million worldwide brand. It's done a hell of a job promoting the image of St. Barths as the ultimate place to show off resort fashions that cost as much as your plane ticket to the island. The glam dupioni silk dresses are designed to look fab even a tad crumpled, and are therefore perfect for just rolling up and throwing in your suitcase. Though the founder of the brand, Christiane Celle, sold it in 2009 (she now runs Clic, a photography and art bookstore with locations in St. Barths, New York City, and the Hamptons), the line's iconic, breezy maxi dresses, gauzy tunics, and leather sandals endure as quintessential beachwear both on the island and off.—Cathay Che

Open daily 10 am to 1 pm and 3 to 7 pm.

Lolita Jaca
Les Hauts du Carré d'Or
Gustavia , St. Barths
Tel: 590 590 27 59 98

Parisian Fabienne Jaca cut her teeth at Calypso St. Barths before launching her own line of island-ready clothing and accessories. Jaca's silk kimono wrap dresses and white eyelet minidresses are more sexy than sweet and skew younger than Calypso, but retain the carefree, always-on-holiday feeling that one would expect on St. Barths. The boutique in Gustavia's Carré d'Or embodies the girlie-sexy sequin-heels-on-the-beach look as well, stocking dresses, sandals, hats, and Jaca's signature perfumes.—Cathay Che
