Most ski villages have a budget option that stands out for skiing practicality. After all, design and decor matters little to hard-core types who just want to get up and out early when the snow is good. In Whistler's case, that option is the Holiday Inn (go figure), which has a prime location in Village Centre alongside the upscale properties. Suffer the overly shiny bedspreads, but enjoy the kitchenettes, fireplaces in every room, and cable TV. There's also a small gym and 10-person hot tub. Plus, you can bring your equipment into the rooms—try that at the Four Seasons.
