If you can rock a pair of retro shades with neon pink detailing, you undoubtedly have a good sense of who you are. And these limited-edition You Are Here glasses with iconic skylines on the lenses will prove that you're a card-carrying citizen of the world of cool.
For the fascinating new All Access World exhibition at the Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin (all about the ways in which well-known monuments and landmarks shape our identities), artist Agathe Snow customized 200 pairs of the hip German brand Mykita's specs. Choose from either New York City's skyline or the pyramids of Giza, painted in a fine gold line on the lenses--don't worry, you can still see through them. The sunglasses are a cheeky reminder to view the world through its grandest accomplishments.

The most surreal experience in Florida these days isn't the flying wizards over at Universal Orlando, it's behind the walls of a new museum in St. Petersburg. The Salvador Dali Museum houses more of the surrealist's masterworks than any gallery in the world.
The 2,140-piece collection sits in a concrete fortress that appears under attack from a curving crystalline blob (Dali would have approved). Though the structure, designed by renowned architectural firm HOK, appears fantastical, there is an element of the practical to it. The building's 18-inch-thick walls are designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane, to protect all those melting clocks and Dada dreams. And that is something to twirl your mustache at.

A lot can happen in a New York minute. Broadway theater tickets can be available at a 50 percent discount one minute then sell out the next. Which is why, if you're visiting NYC and planning to catch a show, you should download the Theatre Development Fund's new TKTS iPhone app (free through March 2011).
Check the app for real-time listings of all Broadway and Off-Broadway shows for which discounted same-day tickets are available at TKTS booths. (The big one under the red glass steps in Times Square is hard to miss, but there's another in Lower Manhattan at South Street Seaport and a third at 1 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn.) The app also provides show descriptions, performance schedules, theater locations, and accessibility info.
Now give yourself a round of applause for saving time and money.
Download the TKTS iPhone App at the iTunes app store or TDF.org.

Lay your Kindle aside for a moment for an admiring look at books like they used to make them: Penguin has released luxurious new hardcover editions of selected classics. With beautiful cover designs stamped on linen cases and ribbons to mark your place, these are the kind of books worth creating a library around.
There are currently 20 volumes in the series, and three of our favorites are especially good buys for those with an adventurous spirit: a ten-year expedition that features war, monsters, and shipwrecks; a little girl's journey to a fantasy world populated by eccentric locals; and a captivating tale of treasure maps and pirates.
Okay, go back to your Kindle. Useful, yes, but not nearly as collectible.
Penguin Classics: Homer's The Odyssey; Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass; Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island; $20 each.

If you want to immerse yourself in Istanbul's arty scene, The House Hotel Galatasaray is where you need to be. Located near the happening neighborhoods of Çukurcuma and Tophane, it's a 19th-century apartment building reimagined as a 20-room hotel with a mod feel and original flourishes. The wood-beamed lounge on the fourth floor (where you'll also find the best rooms) is a fun hangout. Be warned, there's no elevator, but should a few stairs stand in the way of you scoring a room for under $200?
And while you're there...

The gentrifying neighborhood of Tophane, near the port, has become popular with the local art crowd. To see what all the fuss is about, stroll down Boazkesen Caddesi, where you'll find the galleries Pi Artworks, Outlet, and Non, as well as the magnificent, eight-domed Tophane-i Amire building, which hosts temporary exhibitions.

If you're serious about Turkish food, take the ferry across the Bosphorus to Kadiköy for a meal at Çiya. Chef Musa Dadeviren collected recipe ideas from Turkey's most far-flung corners for his meze, stews, and kebabs. Try the nizip yourtlusu, a meatball dish served in garlic yogurt with pita bread.

After years of being told "Do not touch" in art galleries, you might feel a little reticent about the hands-on approach at the Rainbow City installation that coincides with Art Basel Miami Beach
Arty think tank FriendsWithYou has created a psychedelic environment that features 40 brightly colored, toylike inflatable sculptures ranging in size from 10 to 40 feet tall--all of it intended to make you feel like a kid again. Running around, jumping on the exhibits, and generally regressing to childish ways is actively encouraged.
We've seen this kind of behavior in Miami before, but it had nothing to do with art.
