Having traveled to South Korea more than 30 times and to North Korea 20 times (where he himself leads small group tours through this heavily regulated country), Keats has a firm handle on visiting the must-see sites for both countries: the south's Gyeongju, the temple- and palace-rich capital of the ancient Silla Dynasty for nearly 1,000 years, the north's Arirang Mass Gymnastics and Artistic Performance (featuring more than 150,000 performers), and Panmunjom and the DMZ (ideally from both sides). But he also enjoys taking his clients to lesser-known areas—particularly outside Seoul—through highly detailed self-drive routes into the countryside, stopping at villages and temples that date back thousands of years.
