This line, which mostly plies the rivers of Europe, Egypt, and China, also sails to the Galápagos. Excursions go to "quite charming cities" such as Prague, Nuremberg, and Vienna, and also allow guests to explore the countryside and "get off the beaten path." Polished metal, bright colors, and glass galore fill ship interiors; most staterooms have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and standing-room-only balconies. From the dining room on the Avalon Artistry, diners "can see the scenery going by on the riverbank." On some sailings, the farewell dinner menu includes slices of roasted deer loin in berry gelée. "They do a heck of a job training their staff."
