Composed of four 18th-century town houses and a garden wing, this hotel opposite the National Gallery has been painstakingly preserved down to the rococo plasterwork. Period-style rooms have "fabulous marble bathrooms." At bar No. 23, "my favorite drink is the Hot Irish Monk," made with hot chocolate, hazelnut liqueur, whiskey, fresh cream, and crushed hazelnuts. On the terrace you're "surrounded by luscious greenery and near a life-size statue of James Joyce."
