The inaugural property from Dusit Hotels's new brand, the D2 is across the street from the night bazaar. Among the original touches in the 130 rooms are saffron pillows in raw Thai silk commissioned from hill tribe weavers. The restaurant, Moxie, has an international menu (don't skip dessert—the homemade ginger sorbet is a real treat). Room service arrives in a flash, delivered by well-spoken young men in funky uniforms combining silk cravats and Converse All Stars.
When to go: December through February, when the humidity fades and the season is in full swing.
