LOOKING FOR LISTS FROM OTHER YEARS?
This casual beachfront property, a 30-minute drive from the nearest town of Jaco, is even more colorful than its sister property, Xandari Resort and Spa in the Central Valley, the creation of owner/architect Sherrill Broudy and his artist wife. The look is curved adobe, with brilliant colors on the walls, tiles, and varied local artwork. The 11 very private villas with patios all have a view of the spectacular beach, and large, mosaic-tiled indoor showers. There's a pretty pool (atmospherically illuminated at night with blue lights), as well as a lap pool, and tropical garden to wander. An open-air dining pavilion serving flavorful locally influenced fare has a view out to the wide, empty black-sand beach. Nine more villas and a spa are set to open by late 2008.
