New York nightlife impresario Peter Gatien pioneered blending art, music, and fashion in the 1980s clubs Limelight and Tunnel; now he's opened a similarly splashy venue in his native Canada. Today's trend toward intimate spaces even extends to this massive four-story club, which is broken up into smaller spaces. Discreet bottle service booths overlook a dance floor, and a mixed crowd moves from techno in the Art Deco Ballroom to hip-hop in the cool blue-and-white Skyy Cinema Lounge. With rotating exhibits, performance artists, and a Kidrobot Room where anime-like figures move atop a bar, CiRCA is a delightful circus for up to 3,000 partiers.
