Housed in a former print shop, Sepia has plenty of scene (Gwyneth Paltrow was recently spotted) and a stylish, intentionally distressed look. But it charms diners the old-fashioned way: with warm service and creative cooking. Chef Kendal Duque deftly balances big flavors in dishes such as watermelon and fennel salad with goat yogurt dressing; peach, bacon, and blue cheese flat bread; and juicy veal belly with minty pappardelle. Owner Emmanuel Nony, a dapper Frenchman, works the front of the house, bestowing cocktails and chitchat as if every diner were his dear ami (entrées, $19–$31).
