Set amid gardens and a tropical forest, the new Balé Spa—part of the Balé Port Douglas resort—is small but perfectly formed. Its four treatment rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, saunas, and open-air relaxation lounge are in Balinese-style pavilions linked by walkways designed to catch the sea breezes. Couples can opt for a three-and-a-half-hour Intimate Moments treatment ($403), featuring outdoor spa baths and massages, a seafood-and-fruit snack, and champagne. Those indulging solo should try the two-hour Jasmine Princess ($274), which begins with a gentle foot wash in jasmine, frangipani, and pink grapefruit oil, and culminates in a silky caviar facial (massages, $144).
