The picture of discretion, this 201-room hotel has only one small sign and the new-build Spanish Revival architecture blends seamlessly with its neighbors. Inside, white-glove service trumps white-hot buzz. Valets wear top hats, Mediterranean-style murals and mosaics adorn the public areas, and a harpist headlines daily at the capacious tea salon. Of the three restaurants, Parq is fancy, Muse is very fancy, and the Conservatory Grill, on the rooftop, makes for a pretty breakfast spot. Guest rooms have all the requisite amenities if little personality, but don't stay cooped up: Aside from the massive spa, there's a plush pool deck and a well-equipped gym, complete with trainers and a yoga studio. Fancy a spin around town? Borrow the hotel Maybach (and driver), then end the day with cocktails in the swell Parq Bar.
When to go: Early January or late May, when the Rodeo Drive designer shops launch their sales.
Which room to book: Deluxe Suites come with fireplaces and balconies, but if you'd rather not pony up $1,600 per night, get a Superior or Deluxe room overlooking the gardens.
