At actor Richard Gere's new Westchester getaway, the food is as much a draw as the historic eighteenth-century building that Gere and his wife saved from crumbling into inconsequence. The casual Barn is both comfortable (neighbors ride up on horseback and hop down for an egg biscuit sandwich) and chic (those neighbors arrive in tweed hacking jackets). The adjacent Farmhouse feels a bit more starched, but chef and Westchester native Brian Lewis oversees the menus in both dining rooms, ensuring they get the stylish farm-fresh treatment. Offerings change frequently but might include beautifully seared Atlantic halibut over white beans and peppery arugula or Berkshire pork with red swiss chard.
Tip: Lewis is planning a garden so he can grow his own herbs and vegetables (entrées, $32$35).
