Set within Argentina's Malba museum of Latin American art, Café des Arts is a sparsely decorated, airy space overlooking a quiet park. The restaurant is overseen by executive chef Jean Paul Bondoux, of the swanky Alvear Palace Hotel, and serves bright, flavorful tarts and tartines as well as imaginative salads and subtle seafood dishes like pollack in a fennel-and-chive broth with chunks of salmon, octopus, and prawns. As befits a daytime eating place (hours of operation are 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.), the wine list is short, but there are few more pleasant places in Buenos Aires to break the day with a glass of champagne and a plate of fresh Pacific oysters.
Tip: Book a table anywhere on the shaded terrace (entrées, $16–19).
