Owned by the sister-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan, India's biggest Bollywood star, Manre is determinedly European with a few international touches. This means that while harissa and tahini make appearances, turmeric and cumin are absent. Instead, there are luxurious additions—cream of lobster soup with truffle oil is finished with a dramatic brandy flambe—and flawlessly prepared seafood dishes. Despite its mall location, the restaurant's sprawling space and spare design make it a favorite of aunties, India's version of ladies who lunch.
Tip: On Thursdays around 1 P.M. all the aunties come decked in their finery (entrées, $20–$45).
